Attendance Allowance

Tonight, the people will decide.

They will be blissfully ignorant of the fact, but they will decide.

The destination for my Saturday 9 August hop will be decided by the attendance for the Blackburn v Cardiff game on Friday 8 August.  Essentially, the method is to add together the last two digits of the official attendance figure and refer to the following table.  This is a list of thirteen games at unvisited grounds from step 2 to step 4, slightly weighted towards the upper levels.  For example, if the attendance at Ewood Park tonight is 23,456, then the sum of the last two digits is 5+6 = 11 and I will be heading for Redhill.  Other than the weighting, it is pretty random.  Certainly randomish if not truly mathematically random.  The sums range from 0 to 18 for attendances ending in -00 or -99.

Assuming that all final-two-digit pairs are equally likely, then I have a 3 in 19 chance of being at Fylde or Chorley or Bideford, and a 1 in 19 chance of being at any one of the others.  In the words of Eccles, as penned by Spike Milligan in The Last Goon Show of All ... "Everybody's gotta be somewhere".
